KDTM354DSS4 not washing F6 E4 F6 E1 codes

So our Kitchenaid dishwasher KDTM354DSS4 isn't cleaning dishes at all. It does fill with water, heat and will drain. Found the service guide under the kickplate, ran the diagnostic and got F6 E4 and F6 E1 which initially calls for checking the float switch which I did and did not hear a click when raised and lowered by hand.

Found on another forum where a tech says check for voltage at the waterpump when it should be on, if there's 120V then pump is bad. Doesn't jive with the diagnostic error codes, but the wash pump I haven't heard the last 2 times I ran the load. Tomorow I'll pull it out and see if the motor is getting power with a dimm. Does this sound about right? I see the symptoms indicating the wash pump, but not jiving with the error codes.

Guess I'm not active enough for post edits yet. Further searching shows wash pump filter could be clogged or trashed. WiIl know tomorrow and update.

I would start by checking to ensure the control board is sending voltage to the pump. If it is, it looks like your pump has a capacitor. If the you are receiving adequate voltage at the pump, I would next check the capacitor. You'll need a multimeter that can measure capacitance.

Thanks. Did just that. Motor seems ok, it is getting 120V when called for. Motor hums slightly. Took it out and filter has exploded. Ordered a new filter.

There you go. Sometimes you just have to take things apart. Glad you figured it out.

Yeah I dunno about the codes it was giving me though. But new filter would solve what I can see as the problem. Then hopefully the codes will clear itself. Or not, and we can take it from there.
