Kenmore 417.88052700 thumping noise at same point on every revolution, even when rotated by hand

Just yesterday, I noticed that my Kenmore 41788052700 was thumping in a cyclic fashion ... in other words, on every rotation, there is a thump at the same point. This occurs even when I rotate the drum by hand. Drying still occurs and the drum still spins, it is just making this terrible thumping sound.

Since there are no rollers but, rather, a rear drum shaft and bearing, my presumption is that this may be the issue. I have removed the top and, when rotating the drum by hand from inside, the thump seems to be coming from the left side of the drum, which doesn't seem to track with the bearing being the issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am also happy to record the sound the dryer is making if that might help.

The front glide felt strip on the front has a place to the right side and to the left side where it goes from the hard felt glide strip to the felt drum seal.

Coins or zipper pulls can get stuck in this transition point and when the drum turns there are two nylon front drum bearing strips that run on that hard felt glide strip and when either of the two spots where the two half round nylon strips meet run over the obstruction between the two different drum felt areas it will bump.

Need to remove the front of the dryer and inspect the front drum glide area.
