Whirlpool Washer WTW5700SW0 -- Odd Noise While Spin/Drain Cycle

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I replaced my shaft seals as they were leaking as well as the outer tub gasket and new clutch. After I reinstalled everything I started hearing an odd noise when the drum gets up to speed.

Here is a clip of the noise

Here is the transmission out of the washer with just the motor attached and running

Does it sound the same? Is the issue with the transmission? I did have a little gear oil leak out of the top so I do need to get a new seal. Just wondering if I need a new transmission and if this is what is causing the noise.

Any help would be appreciated. This noise was not there before I installed the seals for the shaft.
