(yes or no): Yes Have you watched the video on how to search for manuals and have you searched the Downloads section prior to posting this request? (yes or no): Yes I know there's a service pointer because I've done it many times on Kenmore fridges when I worked for Sears. It involves sealing up the air leaks in the air duct / air diverter area. Water leak at defrost drain in the top of fridge fresh food compartment. Edited December 16, 2023 by Ananda To add more information
Budget Appliance Repair Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 You should also always bring a new Styrofoam air-diffusser block when you do one of these. A lots of the time depending on how long they have been dealing with the leaking the Styrofoam block is water saturated and becomes like a block of ice, since the t-stat sensor bulb is right next to that Styrofoam it will trick the t-stat into turning off too soon because of it's constant freezing temp being like a block of ice. If the blocks are not in bad shape but just water logged I will usually just swap it out for no charge for the part, (they are crazy high price for the part new), and bring the old one home and leave it setting in front of the heater for about a week to dry out good and then swap it on the next one. I've also saved two or three from scrapped units just so I always have a couple in stock. Just found out last month there are two different main Styrofoam blocks - I always thought they were all the same but just found out that the 21 cbft and larger models the block is slightly taller by about 1/8" to 1/4" then all the 18 cbft and smaller models that all do use the same size, (I have to go back and swap the old deeper one back on a job I just did about a month ago, I used foil tape to seal the area between the block and drain cup part of the console to also hold the shorter block up in the correct position so it seals against the roof of the refrigerator). 1
