Frigidaire LFHG2251TF Ice Maker dies after replacing filter

I replaced the filter on my 4 year old refrigerator for the first time. It doesn't do water, we don't use much ice, and our water tastes good; so I figured it didn't much matter.  It made 7 batches of ice cubes and then died.  I put back the old filter, but it didn't help.  I turned it off and let it warm up to room temperature in case anything had frozen, but it didn't help.

I have an extended warranty on it.  They say they can't fix it and are refunding my purchase price less the extended warranty cost.

Presumably it is either the ice maker or the water solenoid.  How can I determine which?  How easy are they to replace? Could it be anything else?

I will try to talk my wife into a table top ice maker instead, but she probably won't go for that.

don't quite understand the issue no ice or no water.

I guess a good place to start is to be sure the wire arm that hangs into the ice bucket is in the down position.  When it it locked in the up position it turns the ice production off.

That's good!! you're pretty smart

Well. I went to high school for 7 years

Did you use an aftermarket or factory filter? Will it make Ice if you bypass the filter?

Sounds like the bypass in the filter head is bad. Try a different filter and if that doesn't work turn off the water and disconnect the line on the valve going to the filter head and test to see if water comes out after water is turned back on and someone presses the dispenser paddle with the doors closed.
