Kitchenaid Superba KSRG22FKSS05 water filter housing leak

Water filter was very tight putting in 6 mths ago. Pulled it out to replace and water was leaking out of water filter housing by the back round receptacle for the filter tip.The filter is unable to be pushed into the housing and turned for a snug fit. It's been very snug and difficult to replace for years but now it's impossible. Using the Everydrop 5 EDR5RXD1. Please advise, thank you.

There are many reviews on the everydrop  website about that everydrop filter not fitting.

Just speculation here; the reviews could be from people who purchased a fake from another website but have voiced their complaints on the official website.

At what point does the filter not fit?  Does it slide into the housing fine but then stick when the outlet tries to engage with the housing?  Is it possible to look into the housing to see if there is something blocking it; perhaps an oring came off the first time you changed it and is jammed in there? If all else fails you could bypass this filter with an external filter but that's a whole other operation.

Yes, I've seen a few reviews with the problem I've encountered. The main problem I've been having over the years is that it's become more difficult to twist the cartridge and lock it once in place. This last time I pulled out the housing to see just what you're talking about and haven't found a blockage or anything.

I decided to see if there's a general problem with the old housing and ordered a new one for $50, it arrives Friday so I'll see.

Thanks for the reply.

As I recall the one and only time I changed the filter on our Frigidaire refrigerator I had difficulty locking it in, but that was years ago; I switched it to an external filter which has worked great and more cost-effective.

I think I remember the twist knob that you have to slide off the old one and put on the new one had to be positioned just right to make it easier to lock in rather than it just fitting by putting it all the way on.

Good luck

Just received the housing a day earlier than expected.

Installed it and works beautifully so far!👍
