Returning guest presenter Aaron Wilson is back for another exciting discussion. This time, we'll be talking about...
The Science of CYA: How to Keep the Customer Safe, Document Your Work, and Not Get Sued
We take on a lot of liability as appliance repair techs, and that can get us into sticky situations whether we've done anything wrong or not. Aaron will be teaching us all about how to navigate this side of the trade.
We'll start by going over a tragic, real-world case study where a sloppy installation had lethal results, analyzing exactly how the installer's negligence caused this. From there, our scope will expand to what kind of safety precautions we should implement in our own work, both for the customer's sake and for our own.
But even if you do everything perfectly, there's still the famous "technician witch hunt." Well, we'll also talk about how to deal with that by thoroughly documenting your work and putting yourself beyond legal reproach.
A little about our guest, Aaron Wilson:
Aaron has been in the appliance repair trade for about 15 years, starting out by doing installations before moving on to bigger and better things. He worked for C&W Services as a Sub-Zero authorized servicer for a time and thereafter joined Mr. Appliance of Highland Park in the Dallas area, where he worked for years as the lead technician and field service manager. These days, he's making sure that all the appliances of everyone's favorite fried chicken place are in tip-top shape as the Quality and Performance Consultant for the southwest branch of Chick-fil-A. In addition, he has taught many classes on refrigeration repair and advanced diagnostics, during which time he also developed training material for the soft skills side of things, which he is delighted to share with you. On top of all that he's a certified graduate of the Master Samurai Tech Academy, so he knows his stuff!

Kenmore W10007190 minor leak at bottom of tub

Onegaiahimasu…

I am helping my in-laws with a small leak issue with their Kenmore HE2 front loader (W10007190)…

Water seems to be dripping from bottom of the tub, but there is a moisture line that runs down the side of the counterweight and drips down right at the bottom, just behind the kick plate, near the filter. After looking around, it seems the leak could be at the tub side fitting of the hose that comes from the soap tray into the tub. Before getting into removing the front to inspect, wondering if anyone has other ideas of where the leak may be coming from.

Leaks can only be found with eyeballs.

@sbdivemaster You have not provided a correct model number - that is a part number of a label that you have provided but this being an HE2 model - should be a Duet Sport - you sound like you're on the right track.

On these models the molded black large tube from the dispenser unit to the front of the tub - the fit of the black tube into the front of the front drum shell gets worn form the constant moving of the wash assembly and it will leak around the tube to tub, (really bad if you have and use the self-clean cycle that fills up with an extra large amount of water and spins the tub it will guss out around the front where the fill tube enters the tub.

You can replace the tube or seal around the tube and tub fitment area with a good glue, (The 3M800 Red is a good choice).

Arigato!

My apologies for the incorrect model number. From it’s position, it was difficult to see the back. I had to try to photo the labels to see them…

The only model name I could see on the front was HE2. I actually have the Duet Sport, so the inside of their HE2 was exactly the same as mine. Heh.

I will pass this info along to my FIL. Again, thank you for your help.

The full model and serial number should be visible from the front - it will be in the door opening area, (open the door and look on the body of the washer where the door closes into washer body - sometimes at the top where you have to kind of turn your head upside down to see it).
