Thermador GPS484GG XLO burners not working

Recommended Posts

Have a Thermador GPS484GG that the left 2 burners (the ones that have the XLO setting) are not working today when we went to use it.

The burners do receive a spark when we light the burners on the right side, so it would appear that the ignitors for the burners on the left do work.  But when we use the XLO knobs on the left this does not happen, nor does gas flow when we use the XLO knobs on the left.

After some googling I found that the problem is likely the simmer control and/or the potentiometers.

I removed the potentiometers (attached the photos of each) and the contact at least on the green one appear to be burnt.  It also smells burnt (I work in the computer repair industry so I've smelled my share of bad electronics)

Given that parts are hard to come by and the parts that are out there people appear to be charging an arm and a leg for, I'm trying to pinpoint what parts I actually need.

This may or may not be connected but last night when we were sitting in the living room we heard 2 loud POP sounds coming from the kitchen.  We could not pin point the source of the noise.  Since it only occurred 2 times we just wrote it off.  The Thermador rangetop was NOT in use at this time.

Looking to the pros for some guidance on this issue.

Thanks in advance!!!
