"Help! My Dryer Won't Turn On - Just Makes a Click Noise"

Greetings forum members,  !

I'm in desperate need of some guidance and expertise. Recently, my dryer has been acting up, and I'm hoping someone here can help me troubleshoot and fix the issue. Here's what's happening:

My Kenmore HE^4 smart heat When I try to turn on my dryer, instead of starting up, it just makes a frustrating click noise and fails to spin. I've tried a few basic troubleshooting steps like checking the power supply, ensuring the door is properly closed, and cleaning out any lint buildup. However, none of these efforts have resolved the problem.

I'm reaching out to you all to see if anyone has encountered a similar issue or has any suggestions for what might be causing this click noise and preventing the dryer from turning on. Are there any specific components or parts I should inspect or replace?

I appreciate any guidance or advice you can provide. Feel free to share your experiences, tips, or even step-by-step instructions on how to diagnose and fix this issue. I'm eager to get my dryer up and running again and avoid the hassle and expense of calling a repair technician.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Kabuki

I would check the thermal fuse and the door are lid switch to make sure they are still working that is where I would start

Check the bottom of the control board under the motor relay. These are known for having bad solder joints and burning out. They will mimic a failed thermal fuse. It's one of the first things I check on these HE4/Whirlpool Duet dryers. We can get more specific if you post the model number from the sticker inside the door jamb.
