Maytag Bravos XL Steam top loader... No Agitator.... Can one be added?

Hi... my wife and son are becoming livid about the way this washer cleans their clothes. My son works at Best Buy and all his work clothes are dark. He has continuous soap streaks despite trying extra soak and rinse options. I'm wondering if the washplate this Maytag has can be replaced with an agitator?

The parts kinda look similar: https://www.maytag.com/blog/washers-and-dryers/agitator-vs-impeller-washer.html

Any chance of this or am I getting a new washer at Best Buy? 🙄

I doubt you can add one. I'd bet too much soap is being used. It doesn't take much. Some would say just a tablespoon.

Step one is to actually make sure you're following the directions for the washer.  I've never seen a teen/twenty-something read the directions for anything, ever.  Freepouring detergent, switching frequently between powder and liquid, dumping a whole laundry basket in at once, rigmo drain connections...  Installer and operator errors are the cheapest to fix.  What are other household members doing with that washer?  Is he washing just one shirt?

Step two - what size basket?  I know this can be done for the 4.2/4.3 baskets.  I convert them myself (in the other direction).

Step three - Remove the washplate from the machine.  7/16 bolt.  You must be able to remove it without destroying it.  This is where most people take a second look at step one or simply call it quits.  Once these machines are a few months old, the washplates are impossibly stuck on that splined shaft.  If you do get it off okay, let us know the model number of your machine in order to proceed.
