Dishwasher wasn't draining so I pulled it out and removed the drain pump to find a piece of plastic clogging it. In troubleshooting I also removed the racks, filters and spray arms. Dishwasher is now draining properly, however, now the middle arm is not spinning at all. This was not an issue prior to me pulling everything out. There is nothing blocking the arm and I made sure there's no debris clogging the arm holes. I've added water to the tub in the event there's not enough water but that didn't change anything. I'm at a loss as to what's going on. What could've changed after fixing the drain pump?

Any ideas?

Could you have bumped the diverter valve? This directs the water from the circulation pump to one of the arms. Looks like this

If so, what would be the issue? The ball float could be stuck?

I checked the ball float and it's moving freely.

Today I removed the circulation pump and pulled out a ball of stuff stuck on the blade. I assumed that was impeding the power of the pump but the middle arm is still not spinning. I'm at a total loss here as to why it won't spin. What am I missing?

@merrittjr This dishwasher only runs one arm at a time.

The ball is the diverter that switches it from main lower wash arm to the upper rack wash arm.  The motor pauses and the water that has bypassed and filled the upper rack supply tube rushes down and pushes the ball to close off the lower spray arm port and restarts with water flowing to the upper rack spray arm.

You may not be waiting long enough to see the change and if you open the door to check - the water that has filled up in the upper supply tube rushes down moves the ball and then the ball rolls back to close the upper supply tube again.  If the pause happens right after you have opened the door and the supply tube hasn't filled again there won't be the charge of water in the supply tube to move the ball again.

Thanks. I know that it only runs 1 arm at a time, but I tried waiting for a while to check on the middle arm and it still didn't appear to be spinning. But I understand what you're saying regarding opening the door to check. I will try to run it again today and see if it's working and report back. Appreciate the help.

Check where the spray arms conduit meet the bottom sump area. Some of these dishwashers have a rubber grommet that can deteriorate. Either that or one of the spray arms are clogged, leaking, or wash pump is weak.

Also make sure the dishwasher isn't leaning forward so that the middle rack properly seats in the conduit dock. Could check the conduit dock for any distortion of the holes and make sure it closes whichever port the rack sits in depending on rack height.
