I recently purchased a Cuisinart CMW-110FR inverter microwave.

I loved it, my dog absolutely hated it.

Turns out, it absolutely screams in the ultrasonic region.  We can't hear it, the dog can.  I had to return it.

My question is: Is this just an issue with the Cuisinart or is it common to all inverter microwaves?

Not a problem common across inverter microwaves,   or all microwaves in general.  I cant speak on the cuisinart brand as they are throwaway appliances not meant to be serviced or repaired.

It is possible your dog is ultra-sensitive,   and hears things that other dogs don't.    Try a different brand,  I love my Panasonic inverter microwave and my dogs are fine.

I didn't just take my dogs word for it.  I have an Amprobe ultrasonic leak detector.  I used that to verify that the unit was absolutely screaming.  Even at rest it made a bit more noise than most electronics.  And, since the seller had such a great return policy, I got a second one and it sounded the same.

I don't know about most microwaves (hence my question) but my old Sunbeam microwave is silent. It makes less noise than most electronics whether at rest or running.

I steered away from the Panasonic because I didn't care for the controls.  As far as I know, all of the inverter microwaves get their tech from Panasonic so I thought the problem might be inherent.
