I am trying to help a friend who is a single mom on a very tight budget. She has a Maytag dryer model MEDB755DW2 that suddenly won’t start. The control panel comes on and appears to cycle.

This is what I’ve checked so far.

Voltage coming in is 240-250

Door switch has continuity.

Thermal fuse has continuity

Resistance on the thermistor is within normal range.

Start switch has continuity when held down.

Motor is not shorted.

Blower fan is clear and turns freely.

Belt is in good condition and tensioner is in place.

I don’t know what else to do.  Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

So my only question is this, what is your voltage at the motor circuit? By voltage coming in I’m assuming you mean the voltage at the junction where the cord is attached, which obviously is not my question.  I’m betting you do not have voltage at your motor terminals OR if you do your motor is open. Without a diagram it’s a crap shoot. If you have voltage at the motor then your motor switch may be faulty. And I’m talking about the mounted motor switch that is inside your motor. There could be a circuit that is the start winding and run winding both should be getting 230 to the common. If this is not happening you will not start.

You’re exactly right I meant voltage at the junction where the cord is attached. I’ll check at the motor terminal.   Thank you!
