Workin on a Maytag washing Machine Leak..Main problem was water leaking thru the center seal assembly(gold chain wrapped in between center seal assembly).....We Replaced with complete Basket hub Kit ...Now having a hell of a time getting outer tub to seal..Weve tried a different tub...Still slow leak.....After many times installing and uninstalling ..still leaking..Looking for some insight on this problem..

Is the leak happening just when filling and sitting there?  Does it have to be agitating or spinning?  Does it appear to be coming down the shaft seal?  This unit has two different hub & seal kits depending on serial number.  Which kit did they sell you and what is your serial number?

Tryin...

The ser. 12384759y0......Ive installed kit 12001598....Which has tub seal #35-2974...Which is what was orginally installed before i broke it down.Water is leaking on top of tub support mounting plate ,not down the trans shaft. Its a small steady leak to drip....After machine runs for awhile it seems to be dripping out slowly...Ive tried a different tub with no luck....I was thinking maybe it is coming from the 2 weep holes in the tub support but not sure...Thanks

I've uploaded the service bulletin for the new hub seal to my public folder: http://homepage.mac.com/zenzoidman/

Some good tips in there which may be a good adjunct to TTH's expert advice on this problem.

So you have the older style.  Maybe the face is not sealing correctly with the 12001561 bearing and housing assembly that mounts to the garbage can cover via the bolts from underneath that the hub tightens down to?  Has that been replaced or did you use the old one?

No i havent replaced the lid....I did fill the water level up to the basket hub...Let it sit over night then put it thru wash and spin cycle...No leaks...So i think its leaking thru the seal nut...Is this possible...The shaft doesnt have any scores or wear marks on it...
