Whirlpool Refrigerator Leaking Water Help!!

Recommended Posts

I discovered that water was pooling and leaking in between my bottom freezer and top refrigerator. Model is wrx988sibm.  The ice sheet formed and I can see when I pull the middle drawer in between the two out. Not sure where it's coming from. Otherwise fridge operates normally such as cooling, water and ice. I'm concerned that the metal wire you sew if the electrical conetions for the middle drawer. How do I troubleshoot and fix this. I did clean my condenser coils but they were barely dirty.

Probably a defrost issue or just clogged drain line. Remove back panel and check for continuity on defrost heater. If it has continuity, but evaporator is solid ice, replace defrost thermostat. (sometimes it comes built in as part of a harness to the evaporator fan) and defrost the drain line using a steamer. You should hear the water gurgling down after a minute. If it doesn’t drain, check the drain tube for physical restrictions. GL🙂
