Model #MDE2600AYW

Serial #12392736CT

It sounds like a belt issue to me.

Do you agree?

What part is needed and how do I fix it?

12001541 is the part you need , there are two per dryer ,  repair clinic has most videos but be careful cause there are several designs of maytag dryers  ,look up a video using your model number in the search

Drum support rollers, glide bearings, idler pulley, worn felt seals. You'll have to disassemble the dryer and check the components for wear. If anything feels tight, worn, or sloppy, replace it. The glide bearings are on the front bulk head at he bottom. They'll look like little blue pads with a piece of cork board under them. They'll be held in with pop rivets. The belt won't cause a squealing noise like you're hearing, but it's probably cracked and dry-rotted. This would be the time to replace it while you have the dryer apart. Good luck!
