GE PFSS5RKZA SS evaporator fan weirdness and warm food compartment

Recommended Posts

Greetings. I've been having trouble with this fridge-freezer. The freezer gets cold, -5F . The fridge is around 50F. Condenser is clean and its fan is running.

I replaced the evaporator fan motor, and the problem persists. Sometimes, the evaporator fan will start if I flick the blades by hand. Sometimes it starts just fine by itself.  When it's running it seems to be quite powerful. Does this starting behavior suggest a bad control board?  (assuming I've checked the connections properly.)

Even if the evaporator fan is running (checking by eyeball) and if the other blower motor is running (driving with an external power supply) I still have the same symptoms.

Is there a damper somewhere that might be stuck?  Any other thoughts?  OR, is the evaporator fan quitting when I'm not looking at it! Maybe I should put it on an external supply too.

thx, Doug

I would check the temperature sensor readings at the control board to see what the fresh food compartment sensor says. Those temp sensors are cheap and they go bad.

What is the parts number you put in and was it a OEM Part.
