GSF26C4EXT02 - Whirlpool Gold Fridge - Ice Maker Not Working

The ice maker stopped making ice.  Here's what I did so far to narrow down the issue:

1) I previously repaired broken wires near the bottom hinge of the freezer door years ago.  I verified there is still continuity in all 4 wires to the ice maker.

2) Upon entering diagnostic mode, step 15 showed that the ice bin was full/missing; however, it was installed and empty.

3) I unplugged/plugged in the fridge and checked the status led on the ice level receiver board.  I also tried from diagnostic test mode 15.  The led was dark/off.

4) I replaced the receiver board.  Same issue with new receiver:  no status led.

5) I verified both receiver and emitter have 14VDC power.

6) Finally, using a camera, I verified emitter was NOT emitting infrared beam (with old and new receivers).

Would the status led on the receiver be off if the emitter is bad?  A service manual for the unit suggested just to replace the receiver when the led is out, so I'm not confident it's the emitter.

What else should I do?

Thank you!

Using the diode testing mode of the multimeter, I saw that the infrared LED on the emitter board was dead.  Replacing the LED allowed diagnostic step 15 to properly show the status of the ice bin/level.

Hey I  am really interested in your  diode testing, what made you do that test, I had a bad emitter situation and it did not dawn on me to test the diode.

A phone's camera can pick up infra-red light and show us in visible light on the screen.  I didn't see any light coming from the LED using the camera, so I was already suspecting it was dead.

Since a LED is a Light Emitting Diode, I wanted to use the multimeter to confirm.
