Whirlpool Washer Drips/Dispenses soap from Door Boot before I start the cycle - Normal operation?

Whirlpool Front load Washing machine - wfw75HEFW0

The soap tray is New, and the tab/gate is pushed down for liquid detergent.

I will load the soap, close the tray, load the clothes, and then I'll start to see the soap liquid drip out of the dispenser before I start the machine. Within 30 seconds it'll start to drip/dispense out. Is this the way it is supposed to function?
