Amana Washer NTW4605EW Top Loader Stops at Rinse and Spin

It stops at rinse and spin cycle during a full wash cycle. It doesn't drain the water, sits locked (red lock light on). I have watched it through a full cycle to failure - it sounds like it tries to spin a few times before stopping completely.

On Rinse and Spin cycle from empty, it locks (red light), tries to spin a few times, then unlocks (hear the click and red light off), then green light (first light) goes off.

When it's locked (red) after failing in rinse and spin, If the start button is long pressed, there's a buzzing sound. From stopped with red lock on, if I open the lid ,then the first light flashes, then I long press start, buzz. Unplugging and plugging in a few times stops this behavior.

Once it stops in the rinse/spin, if I unplug and plug a few times, then start a regular cycle, it will run through the whole cycle (including the rinsing and spinning) to completion. It does this 2-3 times, runs fine, before failing again.

I can replace parts, but don't know what parts to replace, don't know what's causing the problem.

Sounds like you have an intermittent drain pump, or possibly something getting stuck in it sporadically. I’d plan on replacing the drain pump if you’re going to the trouble of pulling the old one out though. Be ready for a fair amount of water to come out when you pull it off the bottom of the tub. Ideally you want to drain as much water as possible before doing so. If you have a shop vac, you can suck the almost all the water out through the drain hose…

Good luck!

I drain it (either suck it with the vac or keep trying the cycle until it drains), take it outside when checking the pump. I did check it - found nothing blocking it.

Sounds like it's working intermittently, those types of pumps can fail in that fashion. Another approach to take is to check for voltage at the pump connector on the CPU when it should be draining. It might be difficult to get the probes on the electrical connector to the pump so you can check for voltage at the cpu first. If you have 120v there when the pump should be running (you can run the pump in diagnostics or run the drain/spin cycle), but the pump isn't doing it's thing, I'd strongly suspect a bad/intermittent pump and replace it.

Here is a video of diagnostic and error code check. Looks like F7 E6.

When you're in diagnostics and check error codes you just press start. You had zero error codes IMO. I think you may have an intermittent actuator issue. Go into diagnostics and put it on the light on the left of the auto diagnostics cycle and press start. See if the lights cycle left to right and it spins and agitates.
