Hello all,

Dryer heats, but won't run. I have checked the timer and the start switch. The door switch is bypassed. I checked the motor as well. Seems good, but my multimeter is a cheap harbor freight one that reads about 2 ohms at the leads. The lowest number I get on the motor thermal protector is slightly higher at 3.8 ohms so could that maybe be the problem?

How can I check to see if the motor is getting power? I figure if it's getting power at the appropriate cycles and still not running, then it must be the motor. If it's not getting power then the problem is obviously somewhere else. There are 6 wires coming in to the motor. (see attached).

Thanks!

I got help from a Facebook group.

One of the heating element coils came off its post causing a short to ground. A thermal fuse also lost continuity (probably due to the short to ground). I have reset the coil and will replace the fuse.

Make sure your vent is clear/drying in normal timeframe.
