Samsung twin cooling plus refrigerator evaporator fan not turning on

My fridge started forming ice near the vents and I confirmed the evaporator fan was not running. I connected to a battery and confirmed it did not spin and ordered another fan to replace it with. New fan spins with battery power applied. I connected to the fridge and it’s still not working. Fridge stays cool to the correct set temperature but after a few weeks, ice will start building up and eventually stops cooling. What would be my next step in troubleshooting? Thank you.

check if there is power going to the fan motor. Either from the main board or at the socket with doors closed!

Thank you so much. I did not realize the difference fan only spins with the fridge closed. I put a magnet to the edge to trick it into thinking the door is closed and the fan kicked on. I appreciate the help.
