Whirlpool WRF736SDAM14 french door fridge in the door ice bin contents freezing up

I've recently been having issues where the  in-door ice storage bin ice is clumping up and suspect that the dispenser chute door is not sealing properly allowing moist air to seep into the ice bin and partially melting the ice, when this happens the ice bin auger cannot overcome the mass of re-frozen ice, hence no ice is dispensed.

The ice chute door itself operates properly, it does close fully, is there some sort of gasket on this door which may have failed?

Please note that on this particular unit that the icemaker itself is located in the top left ceiling section of the fridge, it's icemaking and harvesting capabilities appear to be normal.

Save some ice in a bag. Remove bucket and clean and dry thoroughly then turn off the ice maker. See if it still clumps. If not I would suspect bad water valve. Check door gaskets for gaps. Make sure door switches are working.

Thanks for your response.

I'm assuming you want me to place some saved ice into the bin then monitor the condition of the ice with the icemaker off?

Both door gaskets appear to be sealing properly the switches are OK.

I've read elsewhere that the water valves on these units are problematic, am I correct in assuming that water is trickling into the bin from the icemaker?
