Looking for ideas/help for refrigerator seal- GE TBX22PIBRRBB

I've got an older GE fridge (model TBX22PIBRRBB) and the seals were in bad shape, condensation was building up on the outside doors. I found new-old stock seals and ordered them. When I went to replace the seals, parts of the metal strip that hold the seals in place ( part # WR17X2239) fell apart because they were rusted away. The metal parts are out of production/out of stock everywhere I have looked. I am hoping that someone can help me with an alternative method of attaching the seal to the door, or point me towards a similar replacement for the metal strips that I could adapt to work on the fridge.

I've considered gluing them on, but I am not sure that will hold due to the way the back of the seals are designed, there isn't much surface area that contacts the door. The back of the seal just has a small strip that is supposed to slot into the channel of the WR17X2239 part.

Other than this issue with the seals, the fridge has run great for 30 years, I'd hate to throw it out for something as simple as a door seal. Thanks in advance for any help.
