Does anyone know if the water inlet valve can be switched on this this dishwasher without removing the machine from under the counter. Unlike other dishwashers, this models door is extended away from the body by some sort of frame and while I can feel the mounting bolts for the water valve, I cannot eyeball them and am not sure that I can get a ratchet on them. The diagram of the frame shows 2 holes that might possible allow access with a nutdriver.

Additionally, the breaker at the breaker box seems to have some sort of fitting on it which prevents the breaker from being flipped. Anyone know why this would be set up like this? The only thing I can think of is that the dishwasher can be turned offed by a switch in the kitchen, but the homeowner doesn't know. Anyone know what this is?

Thanks,

Steve

You may need to remove the outer door panel.  That seems to be the vogue these days with dishwasher that are trying to *appear* high-end.  The kickplate under the door is definitely meant to be removed.  This diagram may help:  http://tinyurl.com/w3lpn

Never seen what you're referring to on the breaker box.  Post a photo.

I've seen this around here, some inspectors are requiring it on just the d/w circuit. Supposedly a lockout device. Makes no sense to me.

What is the purpose of a lockout device?

Thanks for the diagram. I am not quite sure how removing the outer door panel would facilitate better access to the water the valve, although I do agree that the kick plate needs to be removed. I did so and could see the valve, its just set back further than normal, because of the door, and I cant see how to release it from its mount.

Have you ever had to remove the entire door in order to get to valve? Somehow that just does not seem right.

Bosch, Miele Incognito series, Kitchenaid talltubs... it's actually pretty common with the "higher end" stuff. If this GE POS is trying to pass itself off as highend, then I wouldn't be surprised if you had to remove the outer panel to access the valve.

Post a pic so we can get a better look.
