GE range JGSS86SPSS: broiler stopped working

Unit is 3-4 years old. Broiler seldom used but now doesn't ignite.

Does the control display show the broiler is on?

If so, is the broil ignitor coming on and glowing? If the control indicates it should be on and it is not glowing it could be a bad ignitor, or a weak ignitor (still bad) if it is glowing but not drawing enough current to open the gas valve.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, the igniter is glowing. Does this mean a control board issue? Anything I can get to and replace?

Ok, Since the ignitor is coming on then the control board is working.

But just because the ignitor is glowing doesn't mean the ignitor is working properly. Ignitors do get weak where they will still glow but not draw enough current to open the gas valve. If you have an amp meter you can check the current draw on the ignitor. Should be around 3-3.3 amps if working normally. If the amperage draw is ok then could be the gas valve/safety valve, but typically it's the ignitor that is the problem.
