My mom’s Kenmore dryer has a PF readout on the display.  Also it starts then shuts down after a few minutes.  What is causing this and how do I fix it so she’ll quit calling me.   HELP!!!

PF is Power Failure. Make sure the outlet it is plugged into isn't faulty or has loose connections. Could also be a bad power cord. If you have a voltage meter, take the top off the machine and find the connections on the dryer side of the power cord and check voltage while wiggling the power cord around. Could also be a computer board problem. Unplug and reconnect the connectors to the boards to make sure they're seated properly. I've also run into bad solder joints on the back of upper board (left side of dryer under the top) that I had to resolder. If voltage checks ok and connections are good then you most likely have a computer problem. You're going to have to do some troubleshooting to narrow it down.
