This machine suddenly started leaking from front bottom of door, found that it was stuck in a wash cycle,

ignorantly I thought that because it had gone through a couple of wash and rinse and drain cycles before it stalled that the trouble must be the timer, replaced it, no change... stuck in same place.

checked water temperature and it was not getting above 125 F or so. my guess is it should get hotter to advance on this cycle? right?

I checked two thermostats (why is there two?) both are closed when the dw is off or cold.

the element was getting 120 volts when the dw  was running it did not seem to be getting extremly hot... I checked resistance it was 8.3 ohms it is a 120 volt 2000 watt element.

please help with your thoughts

Two different problems are described here:

1. Leaking from the door. It should not have leaked no matter how long it was...

2. Stuck in wash.

So we have to troubleshoot these separately.

Leaks are usually caused by

- oversudsing

- gookus stuck in the spray arm holes, re-directing the spray against the door seam

- the basin getting overfilled with water

Stuck in wash can be a heater or timing issue.

Can you fax me a larger version of that very nice schematic you posted? My fax is 775-416-4449. Or you can email if easier: samurai _AT_ fixitnow.com.

First make sure there is no water in the base pan of the dw that might be activating the flood switch..  If it is coming out the bottom of the door, check to see if it is over filling. Some of these units run on time fill, so if the drain hose is plugged or the drain pump is not working, it will continue to fill at each stage of the cycle until it trips the flood switch.

If all that checks out, check for a broken wire in the loom running up the RH side of the door to the timer and check the connections to the heater element.

Let us know how you get on.;)
