GE Front Load washer overflowing detergent tray on rinse cycle

Hi everyone,

Thanks in advance for your help on this one.  GE GFW850SPN2RS front load washer is leaking from the front left corner after the rinse cycle.  An appliance tech came out and said he had another customer with an identical problem, but he hasn't solved it - his guess was the dispenser-to-drum hose was leaking and he replaced a hose clamp.

When removing the tray, water is all over the front edge of the dispenser funnel area and clearly running over the front edge of it.  I removed, disassembled, and cleaned the dispenser tray.  The siphon cups all work as expected when filled with water.  Water pressure to the machine is 40PSI.  Removed front cover and door assembly and checked plumbing from dispenser tray to drum, checked drum/door seal, and none of that appears to be leaking.

I would appreciate any advice on where to go next with this one - I assume the dispenser is overfilling and allowing water to run over the edge and down the inside front of the machine, but I don't know why it would do that except for a dirty tray or high water pressure.

Thanks!

sorry you ended up with a bad or lazy tech... I've had a samsung leaking it was the lid to the dispenser the glue no longer stuck. if not that you might been using way too much detergent or and fabric softener most people don't know it's concentrated and it's supposed to be diluted 4-1 they do that to save shipping costs same as the soap.

hose could be gummed up pour water in there and see what happens

Thanks for the feedback.  I took the whole tray apart and cleaned it, but didn't note any buildup of concern.  Since then we have stopped using the "smart dispense" option, as volume is not adjustable.  When using liquid detergent in the normal detergent dispenser rather than onboard tank, it does not leak.  I won't call it "fixed," but at least I know how to prevent it.

not the tray the tube you only need 1 tablespoon  of liquid detergent per load MAX

Not 100% sure but if that's the clean fresh washer there's an issue with the dispenser that would need replaced. Only covered in warranty. I would do research on it though because I heard that from a customer from another tech. I don't have access to ge anymore or I would check for you.
