GE Potscrubber 940 - pump & motor replaced, now continuing to pump after water emptied out, and continuously through heat cycle?

Bought replacement pump and motor at repairclinic.com, DW washing better, much quieter than before - however, when water pumps out for the last time, pump and motor continues to run dry while it goes into the drying cycle with heating element on. Repair person out getting parts now for another appliance he is working on, trying to get response back from repair clinic, no phone number found, first response back is they are not trained on technical stuff. However, they should be able to ensure that the pump and motor for that model and serial number DW is correct - I assume timer is working fine if it goes into the drying mode successfully - heard could be thermostat? What else would cause this? I would assume it is not good for the pump and motor to be running dry during the heating cycle.

Have bought thermostat, water level switch - get conflicting info - is it likely the replacement pump and motor from repairclinic.com, though it is supposed to be the correct one according to model and serial number - could cause the dw to get rid of all water before the drain cycle, but then continue to run and the arms spin a bit during the drying cycle? You do hear the heating element if a bit of water splashed on it - and you can feel the heat - ?

Hmmm....I can't imagine how replacing the pump/motor would cause this. The timer sends power to the pump motor and it shouldn't be sending power to it in the drying cycle. The heating element yes, if you have selected heated dry, but not the motor. Sounds like a timer issue unless something is grossly mis-wired somehow or there are shorted wires somewhere?

Update on this - Repair Clinic now lists only 1 motor/pump for this model, from what I have been told this should not be the problem. Recently I was told they used one pump/motor for models prev to 1988, and a different one after that. My DW should be in the later group, I think built around 1980. I was told it sounds like a faulty timer - I looked at the number it was supposed to do on Repair Clinic,  they don't have it - found it new on ebay - same model number as Repair Clinic had listed as, the 672 - I noticed that I couldn't get that previously at RC, so that order had been cancelled, and the timer I had bought of ebay shows as numbers WD21X626, WD21X0626,271598. Were these 3 latter model numbers NOT compatible with the GSD940-L-02? Is that why the water pumps out, then the motor continues to run during the drying cycle?
