GE Top Load Washer (Model WISR309DTBWW) - Clothes Come Out Wet, Spin Cycle Issues

Hi everyone,

I have a GE top-load washing machine (Model: WISR309DTBWW) here in Pakistan. It’s been working fine until recently, but now I’m experiencing an issue where the clothes come out still wet after the wash cycle.

Here’s what’s happening:

  1. After the wash cycle, the drain pump kicks in and the machine starts to spin.

  2. However, the spin stops after just a few seconds.

  3. The drain pump keeps running, and after a few minutes, it tries to spin again but stops shortly after.

This cycle repeats, and the clothes don’t get properly spun dry. Has anyone experienced something similar with their GE washer or have any idea what could be causing this?

I’ve checked for obvious issues like clogged drains or unbalanced loads, but everything seems fine. Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the gearcase may be bad. This model does not have a speed sensor. See if you can lift the spin basket up and down check for excessive play. You can also look at the gearcase and see if there are any obvious signs of wear.

Does the motor stop when it should keep running?

Thanks for the reply! Yes, it seems like the motor stops when it should be continuing the spin cycle. The machine starts spinning for a few seconds, then abruptly stops even though the drain pump keeps running. It does this multiple times but never reaches a full-speed spin to properly dry the clothes. I’m wondering if it could be an issue with the motor, motor control board, or possibly a sensor that's causing it to shut off prematurely. Would love any input on what to check next!
