I have a 6 year old Maytag oven, model MER6600FW2, serial number R94413392. When it came time to replace the bake element, our repairman had to look up the process as he had never seen one like it, and he has been working on them for 45 years. He was familiar with the hidden element design but not like this, and had to go to the shop to research it on their computer. In order to access the bake element, the cooktop would need to be removed as well as the side panel. I cannot imagine why anyone would engineer an oven like this and I am curious if anyone has experience in DIY on one like it. I purchased a new bake element but will not be able to use it unless I can either do it myself or pay our guy several hundred to do it for me. That is getting into the "may as well buy a new oven" territory, but I don't like waste and would love to take a crack at it myself. No luck so far in finding a YT video on this design but I can look further. Thanks!
