Anyone have any experience with these? Any other mini-split system? How about high-velocity systems? I am considering adding a/c to my 1920's hot-water radiator heated house.

The mini-split or ductless systems are advancing more each year. There are systems available where you can have multiple fan coils (individually controlled) hooked to a single variable speed condensing unit. Zoning plus energy savings. Some of the indoor units run on 24VAC which makes placement of the fan coils unlimited. There are limitations on the lineset lengths, work best in homes with large open areas and require linesets to run up exterior walls.

The high-velocity systems work very well and provide better overall cooling. The 3" flex lines are easy to run from the main supply duct. However if it is a 2 story home getting air distributed to the main floor(if air handler is in attic) or 2nd floor(if a/h in basement) requires creativity and some interior remodeling. Unico is the system I have seen in our area.
