KitchenAid dishwasher KDTM354ESS3, wires melted through

One day the fill valve stops working. I opened the dishwasher and saw this. It looks like there was a hot spot in the wire bundle, one wire going to the fill valve melted all the way through. It seems like a bad design, there’s 120v carried by a super thin aluminum wire going to the fill valve. Did it degrade and melt over time?
