Kenmore model #: 25358087899

This Kenmore, which I believe to have been manufactured by Frigidaire, has an older style Whirlpool icemaker. The complaint with this icemaker is that it's possibly overfilling because there's an icicle forming near the back of the icemaker. On the newer style modular icemakers, I've seen the module cause the valve to be energized for more than the 7.5 seconds it's supposed to be energized. However, I have much less experience on the older style icemaker. Could it be a switch in the icemaker, or maybe it's just the water valve. Of course, this assuming there's not a slow leak in the icemaker mold itself causing the icicle.

Thanks for any help.

For the old-style icemakers, both you and your customer are better off just replacing it.  Those microswitches are famous for flaking out when they're at freezer temp, but working fine when at room temp (as in, testing it for continuity).  Sure, you may eventually figure out ezzacly what the problem is but only after spending waaay longer troubleshooting it than you can possibly charge for the job.  And then, sure enough, a month later something else will break and guess who your customer will blame?  "Whaddya mean you couldn't predict the future!?"

Do yourself and your customer a favor and replace the old icemaker with a new-style one.  Replace the water inlet valve while you're at it.  Clean start, everyone's happy.  All good.  :dude:

Looks to me like it has the flat plug, so maybe I'll try replacing it with a Whirlpool part # 2155469A icemaker. Thanks for the info.

This a good pernt!  Tarheel, if you just make sure the mounting brackets line up and that the plug will fit the receptacle, no problem.  On some GE's, for example, they use extended mounting brackets to make the icemaker sit lower.  Don't recall this on the Friggidaires but it's always worth checking.
