GE dishwasher not draining completely

Recommended Posts

Hi there!  Anyone know what could be causing a dishwasher not to drain completely?  I mean the pump is obviously working because it does drain about 85% of the water, but every time it finishes there is a small puddle of water.  The filter is 100% clean and inside the dishwasher itself, all drain hoses are clean and clear, garbage disposal is also clean and clear. Took drain pump out and nothing was caught up inside of it or anything.  Bad board? Bad drain pump?

GE dishwasher model number: GSD3300K00BB

Pull off the spray arm, take out screw and remove filter ring. Pull sump cover and clean it out. Check ball inside, clean it as well. If not clear to you, look up exploded view or service manual. This dishwasher does not have a drain pump. The main pump does the draining when the drain valve solenoid is activated.

To disassemble, watch this video first and be careful not to break that little tab on the spray arm base.

Assuming the dishwasher is level so the water isn't just sitting in a different part of the tub,  there are 2 things to check. There must be a high loop in the drain hose under the sink before it empties into the disposal. The other thing lately that causes incomplete draining on these is the rubber sump swells up and doesn't  form a seal with the filter.

It's the round part  at the bottom of this upside-down picture where the check ball goes  that causes the issue.
