I'm gonna have to replace the blower motor on my furnace and being as I have never done this before, I'm wondering what information I need in order to complete this repair. I'm hoping someone can give me the neccessary guidance to keep me from causing further problems while fixing this one. I dont want to just start taking it apart without at least talking to someone who's done it before.  Thanks,  Mike

Re-check your model number, it is not a valid number. The general information you need for a new motor is: Belt-drive or direct drive, HP (typically 1/3, 1/2, or 3/4), voltage (usually 120V), speed (1075RPM), number of speeds.

As for the installation they are usually simple. Get the correct model number and we'll see what you need.

Thanks for the info. The only model # I have is for the furnace unit itself. I dont have the blower out yet so I dont know the numbers on the motor itself. I'll give you those numbers when I get them. Since I dont have a manual on the unit itself, I was mostly concerned with what to take off to get to the blower motor. It's a pretty constricted space, so I didnt want to take apart any more than I had to, to get to the motor. I hope this all makes sense!! You have no idea how much I appreciate your interest and quick response to my problem. I've got a pissed-off wife who cant stand the least bit cold, so you understand how desperate I am to get this fixed. Once again, thanks for everything!!!!      Mike

try posting a picture of the front of the furnace with the covers off so I can get an idea what direction to point you in.

What is the approximate age of this unit?

What part of lawrenceville are you in...i am in the the GA-20 Old Peachtree area...perhaps I can give you an idea if I can look at it

a third hp direct drive with a 1/2 inch shaft  G.E. or EMERSON motor both are reversable cost about $52 bucks you also need a run cap (size may vary) the hard part will be getting the shaft from the blower wheel i suggest you sand and oil the shaft first and NO HAMMERS
