Kenmore 110.42923 getting it apart

I have scoured the great archives of your site and have determined I need to clean/clear/check the drain in my washer.

I have successfully taken off the bottom panel, and 4 more screws (3 near the bottom, 1 on the front panel).  It's time to remove the front (control) panel.  Alas, I fear using great force to remove the panel will leave me with cracked plastic.  I am stuck and frustrated.  How is this darned thing attached!?

I can't get that model to come up,  double check it...

I did a generic search, and pulled up quite a few models, none that were exactly like what you have going....anyway the one that I did get up has the removable panel and has the pump which looks to be on the bottom right. You shouldn't have to do much if anything to get to the cap filter off the front of the pump to check it. I'm taking for granted that I'm looking at the right machine though, so def. check that #

Major Duh on me.  Correct model is 110.44932-200  Ugh...I've just committed one of my pet peeves.

Got the filter cleaned out....very clean, nothing of interest there.  Put it back together and still no action.  Sounds like it is pumping, but it still errors out and leaved water in the tub.  Pulled the drain again and the water came from the tub, and from the pump area (outlet?).

I wonder if it might be the pump, even though it sounds like it is running and the little wheel thing inside it seems to move just fine when I stick my finger in there (no electricity).

I haven't been able to get my xdrive files yet as I already have an aol account that is not my paypal email address.

I have seen many of these Italian pump's impellers come loose from the rotor shaft. Does the pump pump? I assume you have power going to the pump at drain time, what amount of current is it drawing?

The pump does have power to it and sounds like it is running.  Amount of current running to it. . . . uhh  ummm I dunno.

Prior to 'meltdown' the washer had not been sounding right.  The drain process was rather noisy.  A grinding type noise.  The drum rotates freely with no noise so I supposed it was the pump making the noise.

It's not that old, but goes through alot of laundry, dog hair and all.

Oh, the impellers coming loose from the shaft also sound very plausible.

Status Update:

Pump replaced, no foul words needed.  Washer sounds GREAT (so quiet now).  Now to tackle the freezer door.

Thanks for the help!
