Whirlpool Evenheat Dryer, Model#11063942101

I am looking at a Whirlpool Evenheat Dryer, Model#11063942101, with an odd problem.

The original complaint was the clothes were not drying on the automatic setting, AND if you set it on 40 minutes timed dry they would dry for 10 minutes, the buzzer would sound and you could literally watch the timer advance the last 30 minutes within 1 minute.

After the initial tests for venting and correct temperature I put the dryer through the tech sheet diagnostics. It passed all the diagnostics for clothes not drying and timer not operating. Per the sheet I then changed the electronic control board and the thermistor.

The homeowner said it operated correctly for 3 weeks then went back to the same problems. After visually confirming that the timer was behaving the same way I went through the diagnostics again. Again, they all passed.

It could be the replacement board is bad but I don't want to change it without having proof.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Sounds like the thermister again, these go out if the air flow from the dryer to the outside is blocked, I would check the dryer venting system first and most likely try another thermister..after the air flow is fixed if there is a problem there.

Thanks Pegi:

There is strong and hot air flow, so I will try another thermistor.

I just acquired an even heat dryer and dang are they fun! That control board is kind of like a bad joke. The original boards had a bunch of little Zener diodes and they love to blow out and take out the capacitors. Not to mention the resistor that burns itself free of the board. I noticed the new boards have been extensively redesigned. I hope they work better.

I have replaced a 2 or 3 boards with burnt resistors. Also have seen the motor relay go.
