I have a KM 110.20982992 Elite that cust complaint is that when it gets to the spin cycle it just stops and drains. I  find lid switch is ok,l and a new time was installed a year or so back. When I test it several times it flows from agitate to spin just fine. There is a selector switch and test the spin and aggitate cycles thatn they seem ok. The customer calls back to state that the issue has re-appeared. Any ideas of what to look for, this is the WP Catalist knock off.

Thanks Ken:?

What is the issue?...washer agitates, then pauses, then drains then pauses, then spins....what is it doing that is different than this???  If this is a DD it would not go into spin after agitate, would drain first for 2 minutes....unless I have mis-understood the question.

the unit will go thru the normal cycle and stop between agitate and spin the customer has to slam the lid then it will move to the next cycle. when I check the lid swithc it was ok ....:yikes:

If the customer can (slam) the lid and it work it can't be but a couple things

1) loose wire connection or corrosion

2) warped lid from washing powder or heavy objects being set on it

3) bent striker arm from lid slamming before you were called out, as the customer found out this would work

bypass the lidswitch to see if this cures the problem, I can't help but believe it's something simple.....good luck

I say it's a bad timer.

The timer has to pause two times after agitate for it to spin, first time for drain, two minutes later for spin...if the timer is not pausing twice after agitate it will not spin, raising the lid takes the place of the second pause if the timer is not doing the second pause, I noticed the timer was replaced already?  Might have a defective timer again...

thanks guys this is the lid switch that is under the cabinate. I wraped tape around the hinge of the lid that makes contact with the switch, i was hoping that would make up for any excess warping of the lid. The unit is in good shape so no abuse could be noticed. I checked all wire connections and they are ok. One tech suggested there may be an issue with the capatictor with arching problems. I am going to repalce the time and lid switch for peace of mind. This is a home warranty call and we are cleaning up from another company. :dude:

mucho thanks for all of your help-Ken
