What does the word "Esterline" mean?

grizzly

Recommended Posts

I'm reading a self study document from Whirlpool's servicematters.com site, and ran accross three terms I didn't know: stile, mullion, and esterline. I've been able to determine what a stile and mullion are by searching this forum, but I don't know exactly what they mean by "Esterline". Based on the context of its uage, my guess is that it is either a proper noun, as in the type of timer or the manufacturer of the timer. Or that the word is describing a type of chart (ie: a gantt chart, a flow chart, an esterline chart?)

The context in which it appears is on the title page of the job aid and looks something like this:

Basic Electricity

Study Course for Home Appliances

How to Read:

  • Timer Sequence Charts
(Esterline)
  •  Wiring Diagrams

Here is a link to the pdf:

Anyone have any idea what the word esterline means in this context?

You're all over it my man.  Esterline or Esterline chart is another word or phrase for timer chart or cam chart.  It is a time-line that is showing what cams are closed at a particular point in a cycle.
