Maytag Adaptive Defrost Control Board

I recently received a new ADC board and it is different from the original.  In addition to being physically smaller, the connector is labeled, from left to right,  L1, DOOR, STAT, L2, COMP AND HTR.  Whereas the connector on the original board is labeled L1, TEST all other pins ore the same.  My question is do you short L1 and DOOR to enter defrost?  I tried that but the relay did not click.  I took a chance and installed the board anyway. So far the refrigerator is working as it should. Any information anyone can provide will be appreciated.  Thank you.
