Frigidaire Gas Dryer Mod #: FSG446RHS2

Hello all. I have very little experience with Frigidaire gas dryers.....I've worked on quite a few Whirlpool gas dryers. This Frigidaire runs but does not heat. I haven't seen this dryer with my own eyes yet to see what it is actually doing (or not doing). Just wondering if anyone had a wire diagram or any ideas as to what usually goes bad on these Frigidaire gas dryers. Do they have a thermal fuse that may open because of a clogged vent? Do the ignitors give problems on these?

Thanks for any help.

The ignitor/flame sensor/gas valve  setup is exactly the same on almost all GE/WP/FG/MA dryers. The circuit gets power and the first chamber opens, the ignitor glows enough to switch over the flame sensor and the second chamber allows gas to flow ot the still glowing ignitor and flame is established. The same things break on Friggy as the WP. The wide ignitor used on WP can often be used on FG as well. They have goten cute in recent years by using a little round one like LG or a clip like GE. I have yet to replace an open thermal fuse in a Frigidaire gas dryer.

My suggestion would be to go check out the dryer first, see if the ingiter is even coming on at all, check the usual things like you would in other gas dryers, then come back with your observations and test results after locating the tech sheet in the dryer, so we will more likely to be able to help you, we would be just listing things to check that you would be able to do first and save everyone some time.

Thanks for the replies. I'll be going out sometime today to check this dryer. Will follow up afterwards!

Found a bad gas valve coil. The dryer would do fine when it was cool, but after only cycling once or twice, the ignitor would still get hot, but it would not ignite. After sitting for a while and cooling off, it would ignite a time or two, but then it would stop again.

Although this is a Frigidaire dryer, model #FSG446RHS2, I only stock Whirlpool parts, so I put a Whirlpool set of valve coils on it, part # 279834. It's working fine right now, but is this part substitution ok?

Thanks.

Believe the newer coils are all the same, I just stock the Maytag coil kits..
