Kenmore Elite Dryer, Model# 11065966401, Wont Stop

I am working on a Kenmore Elite dryer, model # 11065966401, which won't stop unless it is manually shut off. The homeowner advises she only uses the timed setting which works fine until the last 10 minutes at which time it won't advance any further. The timer remains on 10 minutes until she advances it to off.

I suspect there is a resistor problem but did not see one in the console area or attached to the timer. In addition, the wiring diagram is missing so I am unable to determine if there is a resistor somewhere further down in the wiring.

I do not want to replace either the timer or electronic control card without proving that one of them are bad. Does anyone know if there is a resistor on this particular appliance and if so, where is it located, or is there a known problem with either the timer or control card?

Thanks,

Steve

Your diagram - no resistor and I don't think it would matter anyways. In timed dry the timer motor should have 120VAC constantly until it advances to the off postion.

Thanks.

That would suggest the timer is bad. Do you agree?

I would suggest checking to see if the timer motor is receiving 120v and getting a neutral. If so, replace the timer, if not find out where the power or neutral is getting lost.

Thanks, will do.
