KitchenAid Cooktop, Model #KECC507GBT3

I have to replace the LF infinite switch (dual element) on a KitchenAid glass cook-top, model #KECC507GBT3, and am unsure how to access it.

The diagram on the Sears site would seem to indicate that I can remove the control knobs and switch seals and lift the glass-top up and off. If the glass can just be lifted up, does anyone know if there is a seal between the glass and the burner box?

Is this correct, or does the whole burner box have to be pushed up and out onto the counter-top? The diagram does not show one.

Also, the homeowner indicates that the dual burner will not work on the low setting (i.e. both elements are dark). Should one of the elements be lit on low or should the element be dark but emitting heat?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, this Job Aid looks like it applies to your cooktop.  Look on page 14 (3-2) and it appears that you'll need to lift the cooktop just enough to get to some screws ust below the glass surface.

Thanks Scott. That should do it.

Any thoughts on the last question (i.e. should one of the twqo burners be lit when set on low heat)?

Unit is best lifted out and caddy-cornered over the existing cutout.  If you just lift it up to access the screws and the cutout is larger then it should be....down she goes.   As far as the low setting, if it is emitting heat on that setting, and all other settings, you are probably good to go.  The left front is a higher wattage duel element then the RR duel and will react differently.
