did the test for F7 , with ribbon removed  after 35 seconds i got F0, put ribbon back in and then F 7 came up again. the tech sheet has no "F0", any help would be appreciated, the buschman

Got some more in-depth explanation of the deductive troubleshooting technique for this pesky problem.  But, right off the cuff, I'd say you'll need to replace both the ERC and touchpad based on what you're describing.
