The heating element won't cycle and if you open the door and close it , we have to turn timer all the way around to the start position in order for the element to come back on.  We are thinking either the timer or the control board....anyone able to offer any suggestions...Thanks in advance , Tom

Post your complete model number so we'll have a fighting chance of locating your wiring diagram online.

Looking at the wiring diagram on page 3 of your tech sheet, there are a couple of players that need to be scoped out.

One  is the heater relay.  Need to see if you're getting the control voltage for the heater relay coil.  Problem is that they don't tell you what that voltage should be.  A work around for this is to check measure the coil voltage for the motor relay- they're the exact same relay and they get the same coil voltage.  So, after determining that, you'll see if the relay is getting coil voltage after you open and close the door and re-start the dryer-- when the heater should be running.

There's also a thermistor, should read about 10k-ohms.

Another component involved in the heater circuit is the motor centrifugal switch.  This is less likely since it would likely fail consistently, door open/close or end of timer cycle, but it may be worth checking.

that voltage would be 48 dc if memory isn't pickled by favorite brew
