Dryer drum rust

Has anyone ever had any success with painting  a bad area of a dryer drum with some kind of high temp paint? This particular dryer is at the beach, and I'm sure the previous owners must have just thrown wet bathing suits, towels, etc. in the dryer and let them sit. There's just a little spot of rust on it, so just trying to take the cheap way out.

Thanks for any help.

Sure, we have repainted whole drums before, you could sand the spot and use hi-gemp paint that matches the color also...just take the drum out and do it outside and let it dry good before re-installing the drum and using the dryer.  We used Krylon paint but assume auto body stores would have this hi-temp paint also.

most hardwares stores sell the high-heat engine paint, take your time and sand it well or the rust will come back

and as pegi said.... REMOVE THE DRUM cause those fumes inside that small steel box are a bomb otherwise
