Should be a model number on the unit or a model tag on the comp itself. There will be a number like 24, 30, 36, 42, 48 or 60 to indicate the number of btu's in thousands the unit is rated for 12,000 btu = 1 ton of capacity.

Hey,

I know I'm late on this one but it should be 12,000 btu's for every 400 sq ft of your house or large room.Let's say you have a 1800 sq ft home. One divides 1800 by 400 and gets 4.5 .Thats a 4 and a half ton unit.
