Fridge running hot. Methinks it is a sealed system problem but need confirmation.  Compressor is running but evap coil no frosty. Large chunk of ice found on copper line where line connects to evap coil. No frost on evap coil. Grasshopper branded fingers  again "Ouch "on defrost heater.:burning: Gotta remember defrost element gets hot(went into defost cycle just as grasshopper removed back panel). Grasshopper distracted by  food offering from owner(big sausage biscuit and Pepsi). Was worth the blisters!:bananadance: Anyway, back to problem. Got rid of the ice and defrost cyle completed normally. Evap fan  and compressor came back on. Waited nearly an hour but no frost. Ice formed in same place again but rest of evap coil still nice and shiny and frost free. :help:Question: Repair or replace??

yes, sounds like either a compressor problem or a freon leak, need to have a tech access sealed system to determine the problem..

Thanks Pegi. Fridge is 10 years old. Been checking compressor prices(Wagner,RC,GE,Sears). $225-$325 before labor.:yikes: New Fridge $429.... The Samurai's 50% rule is now in play.
